Amidst Paradise

edge

…Amidst Paradise -  a multi-disciplinary piece of theatre, inspired by the photographic works of Ed Ruscha.  The piece combines elements of physical theatre, original compositions of electronic soundscape, and an original text based on the stylistic conventions of Irish playwright, Mark O'Rowe. Students involved include HND Performing Arts Year 1 and L3 Music Technology Year 2.
The School of Music and Performing Arts prides itself in introducing students, of both disciplines, to exploring new ways of creating original works.
The works and musings of Ed Ruscha were used as a starting block, from which concepts and ideas were explored and refined. Of particular interest was the 1968 photographic study entitled: Nine Swimming Pools and a Broken Glass…possibly suggesting peril amidst paradise.
Suggested age: 14+
